Reclining Chair to Suryakanth

Suryakanth (8) was born with multiple issues due to complications of his birth. It made him dependent and bed ridden. In order to reduce the difficulties of his care takers, our therapist recommended to use a recling chair, custom made according to his body measurements. Sakshama took the responsibility and with the help of philanthropists got the device made and delivered to the family. It was handed over to his parents at a humble function organized at Agasthya Kuteeram Balika Sadanam, Kotoor. Sakshama's Kottoor panchayat samiti was also inaugurated same day.

Sakshama Founding Day & Felicitation Ceremony

Today Sakshama completed 18 years of it's service to the people with disabilities. The founding day was celebrated by organizing falicitations to Divyangjan students who have passed in the recently concluded plus 2 exams. In the district programs were conducted in Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram and Kattakkada Taluks. Together about 50 students were given mementos. In addition to this, four Divyangjan students who passed the exams without the help of scribes were given cash prizes of Rs 1000/- each.

Sri Chempazhanthy Udayan, standing committee chairman of education commmittee, Thiruvananthapuram corporation inaugurated the function. Sri Raghunathan Nair, state vice president of Sakshama delivered keynote address. He explained the vision and activities of Sakshama. In his sppech he also remembered Helen Keller as her birthday falls on June 27th. The life of Hellen Keller always inspires all the Divyangjans across the world, he said.

NeoBolt Distribution - An IOCL CSR Initiative

Sakshama organized a program to distribute eight NeoBolt semi-scooter type electric wheelchairs to physically challenged beneficiaries. The program named as 'Hrudayasparsham' is supported by Indian Oil Corporation Limited's CSR initiative. These 8 machines are part of the 55 such machines totally distributed in Kerala by Sakshama. This supporting equipment has already changed the lives of many disabled persons. It enable them to comeout and explore the world more. Such supporting equipments give divyangjans confidence to overcome their mobility issues and start new initiatives and revenue earning activities.
The programme was inaugurated Sri V V Rajesh, the honorable Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram by handing over the machine to Sri Sreeraj. Dr S R Jayachandran, the district president of Sakshama, presided over the function. The program was falicitated by diginitaries like Padmasree Dr. Omanakkutty (Renowned singer), Sri Balachandran Thampuran (Rtd Engineer, VSSC), Sri P Girish (Vibhag Sangachalak, RSS), Dr S Ramakrishan (Chief Consultant, Dheemahi)

Electric Wheelchair Service Camp
March 13th & 14th, Dheemahi
A two day service camp for the users of NeoBolt electric wheel chair was conducted at our office at Vazhuthacaud. The mechanics and supervisor of NeoMotion company came with required spare parts and did the necessary checks and servicing for the machines. About 20 wheel chair users did make use of this opportunity. All were happy that such a service was arranged in the city centre at a very convenient place.

Support to Attukal Ponkala
23rd Feb to 3rd March 2026

This year also in association with Sree Netra Eye Care, we organized a week long free eye check-up camp in the vicinity of Attukal temple during the festival time. On the Ponkala day, in association with ERSRT Sakshama arranged an ambulance, exclusively for the benefit of Divyangjan devotees. The ambulance was posted in front of the SMV high school which was designated as the spot for the special devotees by the Thiruvananthapuram corporation. Encouraged by the support of municipal corporation many divyangjan devotees came forward to participate in the Ponkala festival.

Distributed Mobile Phones

As part of this year's Divyanga Mitram campaign, when we met our well wisher Sri Balachandran Thampuran, he enquired about our immediate requirements. When we presented him the number of requests we receive for supporting equipments, he immediately expressed his willingness to buy four mobile phones to give to visually challenged people. These mobiles are installed with special apps that are helpful for the blind. Without any delay Sakshama bought the mobile phones and distributed to beneficiaries. Sri S Ramakrishnan, chief therapy consultant of Dheemahi presided over the function.

Wheelchair to Sri Venugopal
6th, January 2026, Ambalathara
Sri Venugopal, a native of Ambalathara met with an major accident seven years ago. Since then he became wheelchair bound. He and his family survive by selling lottery tickets. Being a diabetic patient makes his life more difficult. On receving an application for a wheel chair, Sakshama provided him with a wheel chair with commode seat with the help of a sponsor.

World Braille Day & Divyanga Mithram Inauguration
4th, January 2026, Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram
This year's Divyanga Mithram campaign was inaugurated in three Taluks in the first week of January. It is a yearly campaign to collect working fund for Sakshama's activities for a year. In it's basic form, a coupon of worth Rs 500/- is distributed. Along with this, World Braille Day was also observed. Cine artist Sri Krishnan Balakrishnan inaugurated the function at Dheemahi, Vazhuthacaud by accepting the first coupon from Sri K R Raghunathan Nair (State Vice President). He entralled the audience by singing a beautiful folk song. Kumari Amrutha and Sri Abhiram of Sakshama Kalanjali team also sang songs. In the morning, another program was oganized at Nedumangad (Melancode Resident's Association Hall). The first installment of the financial support of Rs 50 k out of Rs 1 Lakh from Sakshama for the completetion of the house construction of Adithyan S/o Smt Lakshmi was handed over by Sri Prajeesh (Saha Karyavah, Nedumangad) to the family.
